Write list of New Year’s resolutions was on my calendar today, I decided not to for many reasons, the main one was, that I didn’t complete last years list.

Someone once joked that a New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other. Each year we all sit around and try to think of ways to put a new spin on the same old problems. Mine is to just find out more about what I already know. To finish some old projects and not to start any new ones until they’re done. I hope I can do that.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

Dear Amanda,

In response to your comment,

I was looking for my family tree found out my gggggrandfather peter tuner was born in virgina 1826 I think his father was charles or thomas but that were im running into the adkins anyone got info on them?

I found so many listed, but none married to an Adkins or Atkins or Atkinson? The Peter Turner’s I found married:
• Susanah Kinsley
• Ann A. Norsworthy
• Elisa Ann Edwards
• Penina Brammer
• Amanda R. Cooper
• Emelina T. Blair

What Adkins’ did you find?

I’m sorry that I couldn’t be of more help. I will continue to look, but will need a few more details than that. I need: who he married; names of known children; where he lived; and when; follow up on noteworthy experiences, or anything that ties him to the family.

Thanks for you comment and Welcome to the Family,
Sheila Jean Adkins Metcalf

You don’t have to understand how RSS feeds work to reap their benefits. However, if you want to know, here are articles from Wikipedia and What is RSS? Basically, without utilizing RSS feeds, you would need to visit web sites and blogs individually to see if they have been updated. If you subscribe to RSS feeds using a feed reader, the latest updates come to you. Two of the bigger names in feed readers are Bloglines and Google Reader. You do not have to sign up for either of these, the task is just to read about them and know they exist. If you are familiar with RSS feeds, then this is an easy challenge. Genealogy bloggers are encouraged to share their experiences. If you use a particular feed reader, discuss it and you organize your feeds.

No… I’m not really into this stuff, but it’s a fun thing to do from time to time. I don’t think it’s doing any long term damage to my psyche or makes me any less a Christian, because I read something about the “Stars”. It’s just a moderate diversion in my long standing quest to break up the monotony.  Today, it said:

Get ready, Libra, for the possibility of gossip, rumors or other attempts to discredit you over the next two weeks. This Full Moon is in what the Indian astrologers call “Satru Bhava” or house of enemies, and if they have been hiding, this is the time when they come out to play. See it as that and they seem less menacing, but you should be on the alert. Watch out for underhanded tactics, and if possible, document the activities of rivals. It is also a good idea to keep personal matters to yourself at this time, despite the fact that you enjoy conversation and like to “keep it light”.

Just posting this will do the same kind of damage, but at this point in my life, I can honestly say, “I don’t care!” So there may actually be some truth to this one. I’m not sure who they hire to write this stuff but they actually have a fairly accurate assessment or handle on life. I did find it somewhat gratifying as well. They said exactly what I was thinking, without even knowing me.

Today Libra your personal relationship in the love department is causing you some angst. Whether you are single or attached, there may be someone that has done or said something that has set you off. This is not going to be a mellow day, but handling these situations like a grownup is mandatory at this point. You will find the progress and resolution that you are looking for through a very simple conversation that involves compromise. You may need to re-shift some of your goals and priorities, and if you give on the small points, rest assured that you will take on the large ones.

Here was more of today’s assessment on:

Love: If you are with someone; today will be a harmonious day with them. If you’ve been waiting to say something to that special someone, today is the day. Love is in the air!

Career: Don’t try to do everything yourself! You’ve been working hard, ask for assistance and lighten the load!

Health: You’ve been doing really well at keeping up your health!

Wealth: You may receive a bonus at work soon; use it to splurge on something you’ve wanted for a while!

B2 or Not B2? What a Question!
Have you had those weeks that seem like much ado about nothing? Constantly being upstaged by other players’ demands, your performance weakens and you lose focus. It’s a tragedy in the making. Time to act! Adding value and order to your daily tasks will give you direction. Here are a few pointers:

  • Enter value. Decide how important each task is. It’s as easy as A-B-C. “A” tasks are vital. Not accomplishing them today will significantly reduce their value. “B” tasks are important. They can wait a day without losing a lot of value. “C” tasks are optional. If you don’t get them done today, tomorrow, or even next week, don’t sweat it.
  • Cross to order. It’s important to decide when you will get things done. In your planning system, assign a number to each task in your different value groups. Example: A1, A2; B1, B2, B3; C1.
  • Exit stress. Cue off of these ideas for greater personal effectiveness. You’ll bring down the house!
  • Remember, a daily schedule is a mere “road map” for how you would like your day to go. Be flexible and realistic. There’s always tomorrow!
  • Regularly scheduling time for personal and professional reflection is a great way to stay focused on whether you are living by your values. Take time to think about the following questions: “Where am I going?” “How do I get there?” “What must I do?” “Why am I doing it?” “When should I do it?”
  • “I’ve learned that the great challenge of life is to decide what’s important and to disregard everything else.”
