3 & 1/2 C. flour
1 & 1/3 – 1 & 1 1/2 C. hot water
1/4 C. oil
1 t. salt
1 T. sugar
1 T. yeast or 1 pkg. yeast
1 bag of broccoli cuts or florets – I use my garden broccoli
1 C. of shredded cheddar
Mix all of these ingredients together. First I put the flour in and make a hole in the center to put the yeast and sugar together, then I add the hot water and finally the oil. Stir well, cover it, and let it rise for one hour. After it rises, divide it in half and roll out in flour to fit in the bottom of a greased 9 X 13 inch pan. Then put in cooked broccoli – I don’t cook the broccoli completely because I don’t want it mushy. Sprinkle broccoli and bread bottom with shredded cheddar. Place the broccoli evenly on bread dough and then roll out the top and place it on top. Bake for 20 minutes at 425 degrees.
Yum! Great with spaghetti sauce. I often bake one with my homemade sauce. It’s an easy recipe. ~ Nancy Helms Penfield
