1 pt fruit (black berries, blueberries, etc.)
1 c sugar
1 c water
1 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ c sugar
¼ stick butter
½ c milk
Mix the fruit, sugar and water together and place in a grease 9×8 or 8×8 inch baking dish. Using your fingers; mix in the ¼ stick of butter. Gently stir in the milk. Spoon the topping batter over the top of the fruit mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Test for doneness like you do for cake.
