Maximizing your Day

  1. Break down long-term projects into smaller tasks that you can accomplish day by day.
  2. Make timely decisions in order to keep your projects on track and your home free of clutter.
  3. Fight procrastination by making a start, even if it’s just writing a to-do list.
  4. Use a printed or electronic calendar, not your memory, to stay on top of your schedule.
  5. Maintain both master and daily to-do lists to keep your projects moving.
  6. Carve out large blocks of time by minimizing interruptions. If you need to, hang a busy sign out.
  7. Run more effective meetings by aiming for decisions rather than just discussions.
  8. Manage those stacks of reading materials: Recycle trash the articles and publications that aren’t essential.
  9. Whenever it’s appropriate, delegate tasks to others.
  10. Don’t forget to take breaks – they will clear your head and help you work more efficiently.
