1 lb. (.45 kg) lean ground beef (chuck)
1 garlic clove
1 carrot
1 stalk celery
1/2 medium onion
1/4 green pepper
1 (8 oz. – 226 g) can tomato sauce
1 (29 oz. – 851 kg) can pork and beans
3 Tbsp.(45 ml) brown sugar or molasses
2 slices bacon
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit or 164 degrees Celsius.
- Lightly brown ground beef and drain off excess fat.
- In the blender; place garlic clove, chunks of carrot, celery, onion, green pepper and tomato sauce. Blend at medium speed until pureed.
- Combine meat and tomato mixture with beans, brown sugar or molasses and chopped bacon in casserole.
- Bake for 1 hour or until bubbly.
- Serve with hot bread and relishes.
