Lots to do today…
I was packing for the trip to the Rod Run, again and going over my extensive list of things to do. I may need a list for my lists. Starting with a trip to Dempster’s for the tire pressure check, Elliott’s for a bath and then an on for an oil change. That is one needy car. I was joking about all the years I’ve been going down there and I’ve never met or even seen Dolly, for that matter. Where the heck is she? She is on the commercials and the radio, she’s on all the flyers but she’s never there to meet and greet. If you claim to be the hostess with the mostest, shouldn’t you be on hand to make people at least think your part of the attraction??? Or is that just me?
Anyway, we had a great Easter Holiday here with the kids; far too much candy? April made the traditional Easter Bunny cake. I haven’t made one in 30 years. I made this cake with my mother every year when I was a girl but I never carried the tradition on with my children. My mom changed the bunnies look every year, one year a green bow tie and the next year a gum drop polka dotted bowtie, always something different, she would spend hours making it just perfect. I didn’t do these things with my kids; Steven has only colored eggs once in his life, I just hated the mess. Am I going straight to the mother of the 9th realm? Instead of the traditional dinner, and you’re going to laugh here. I made a pot of Chili, some hotdogs, sauerkraut, baked beans, chili dog sauce, chips and punch bowl cake. Christine made a pasta salad and we ate continuously all day long. All in all, it was a great day.
Steven missed school yesterday but he made it back today. Mandy is getting ready for her garage sale and wants me to clean out some junk. No problem always got more stuff than I know what to do with. Plus, I’ll be out of town and won’t have to do the work; always a bonus. LOL
Filed the taxes yesterday and I have to mail the other 30 envelopes today while I’m out. I better get the move on here.
But before I go I wanted to thank my 2nd cousin once removed for her information on my Great Grandma Edna Craft Fugate’s sister Lula and family. She also sent me some pix and you know how I love pix. I will go thru mine after VA-KA and send her some. I have been working feverously on the family tree trying to tie up some loose ends. I’ve added another few hundred more people to the already over crowed branches but it’s nice to know where they all fit.
I’m still working on the family of the last weeks commenter. Wow, no wonder he cannot get that one done. I cannot tie him to any Adkins family in Harlan. I love Harlan that is where my 2x great uncle William Blankenship had his kept his second wife and family. People email me all the time and say I have them confused and I say, nope got it straight from his grandson’s mouth. He went missing for a few months and his brother went looking for him; FOUND… oh snap… and the drama beings. LOL
I have to take a moment here and express my deepest sympathy to Audrey Russell her husband Andrew “Andy” Russell passed away Sat. April 11th 2009 at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements: visitation services will be today, Tuesday April 14th 2009 after 6pm at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel, funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wed. April 15th at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel Manchester, Ky. I cannot begin to know the pain in her heart but God does and I believe He will send her and her family all the comfort they will need to get through this.
Love from the family,
Sheila
